Bikram yoga (a form of hatha yoga) is a series of 26 classic yoga postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises. A class is 90 minutes.
You can practice Bikram yoga every day. The more you practice, the more interesting it becomes. You learn more and more about your body and about what is going on in your mind.
In 90 minutes you work every cell in the body, systematically increasing blood circulation, sending fresh, oxygenated blood through organs and muscles. Every class follows the same sequence of postures performed in a heated room (38-40º Celsius). Each posture is a preparation for the next.
Because you practice the same sequence every class, you quickly notice your progress. Your body is different every day (physically and mentally) and you notice this right away in your yoga practice. The heat helps you gain flexibility, reduces the risk of injuries and helps flush toxins from the body.
Physically, Bikram yoga is the perfect combination of strength, flexibility, balance and stamina. In addition to the physical benefits, Bikram yoga also brings peace of mind. It boosts your self-confidence, self-control, determination, patience and concentration.
In the beginning of your yoga practice, your biggest challenge is usually controlling you breathing. It takes a little practice to learn how to breathe in the warm air. When you learn to control your breathing, you can begin to go deeper in the postures and practice with greater intensity.
What do you have to lose? Excess weight, toxins, limitations, and excuses. What do you have to gain? Flexibility, strength, balance and vitality. Improve your health, improve your life.
